Get Your Own Tap Water Filter

By Nigil Marks

It seems everyone has a tap water filter today. They are easy and inexpensive and useful ways to get pure, tasty water right out of your very own kitchen's sink. Previously, if you wanted fresh and tasty water you would have to go to the local convenience store and purchase a bottle of good and pure water. The collective prices of bottled spring water can really pile up over only one year. This is especially true if you drink a good amount of water each day.

The two biggest predominant brands on store shelves these days are Pur and Britta, but there are more. The differences between separate brands in themselves are minuscule, but the differences between filter systems are huge. Though they all do give clean water, some break more easily than other kinds and some even provide extra features. Determining which kind fulfills your household's wants and needs is completely up to your discretion.

Each tap water filter basically works in a similar way. The inner filters inside of their casing have electro-positive carbon installed, which attracts any unwanted materials that could be inside of the water. As the water passes into the filter, the negative molecules stick to the carbon and the water flows through perfectly clean. This filtration technology is very effective and it can make tap water taste better than anything else. You also must change the cartridge every two or three months to continue to get clean water. If you do not, the filter will eventually become ineffectual.

Depending on the model, they may be switched on in one of two primary ways. The classic systems are turned on depending on whether you want clean or unfiltered water or not. You can not run hot water through these when they are in filter position due to the fact that they will break internally and have to be replaced. The other type is simply controlled by button, so there is no risk of cracking or breaking. Whichever you finally decide upon will most likely come down to the price, as those with the button powering are digital, and hence more likely expensive than the turning-style systems.

The filters in a tap water filter can remove any possible harmful particles in your water as well as any excess minerals, both of which can make the water taste metallic or even otherwise awful. In order to keep the system in working order the internal filter must be changed. If you are concerned about having to use a filter and throw it away, Britta now makes recyclable filters.

In case you are doubtful of the quality of water that comes from your home and don't want to continue to spend money on bottled waters each day, then purchasing a quality tap water filter is a very solid investment. There is no better method of getting clean water from the convenience of your home, and it is significantly more affordable than having to go and buy water all of the time. - 30414
